Para estos efectos, la informaci\u00f3n presentada remite al informe elaborado por el Instituto Nacional de Estad\u00edsticas (INE) y el Departamento de Extranjer\u00eda y Migraci\u00f3n (DEM) que fue publicado durante Agosto de 2021. El documento est\u00e1 estructurado en cinco secciones. En la primera de ellas se presenta el panorama general del proceso migratorio internacional en la RMS situ\u00e1ndolo en el contexto nacional. La segunda secci\u00f3n entrega informaci\u00f3n relacionada con la composici\u00f3n por sexo y edad de la poblaci\u00f3n extranjera residente en la regi\u00f3n. En la tercera secci\u00f3n se examina la poblaci\u00f3n extranjera residente en la RMS respecto de su pa\u00eds de origen y se analiza la evoluci\u00f3n reciente de los principales colectivos. La cuarta secci\u00f3n presenta informaci\u00f3n relacionada con la distribuci\u00f3n de la poblaci\u00f3n extranjera residente entre las comunas de la RMS (para las cuales se dispone de informaci\u00f3n) de acuerdo al informe ya referido del INE y DEM. Finalmente, la quinta -y \u00faltima- secci\u00f3n presenta, a modo de resumen, las principales conclusiones que es posible efectuar a partir del an\u00e1lisis realizado en las secciones
